Lobster Chowder Challenge

Lobster Demonstration and Food Tent, Carnival Grounds, 511 Notre Dame Street

 

Open to PEI chefs, restaurant cooks and home cooks.

​

 

Event Challenge

Participants compete for the honour of creating the number one lobster chowder made with PEI lobster and seafood, and ADL dairy products.

 

Rules:

​

1. Chowder can include a combination of any local seafood, but must contain PEI lobster.

 

2. ADL products must be used. ADL will provide each individual competitor with 2 litres of milk, 1 litre of cream, and 1 pound of butter to be picked up at the Lefurgey Cultural Centre, corner of Granville and Prince Streets, Summerside no later than 4:30 pm July 11th.
All entries must be received by Tuesday, July 9th by 12 noon.

 

3. Chowder must be preprepared and brought to the Carnival Lobster Demonstration and Food Tent ready for judging.

 

4. Competitors are asked to prepare eight (8) litres of chowder for judging and taste testing.

 

7. Competitors will be asked to speak about their chowder. If the chef or cook can’t be in attendance they can select a representative to present the chowder and serve samples.

 

Taste testing serving cups and spoons will be provided.

Three judges (including one Red Seal Chef) will select the top three entries.

 

First Prize: $500.00, Second Prize $350.00, Third Prize $150.00

 

Following the judging audience members will be given free tickets to taste test three of the entries. Entertainment will be provided throughout the competition.
