Thank you to our 2024 Sponsors:
 Presenting Sponsor

The Lobster Fishers of Prince Edward Island Marketing Board is the presenting sponsor of the Summerside Lobster Carnival. The board, made up of twelve elected lobster fishers from across PEI, promotes and markets Island lobster to the world. As the primary fishery in Prince Edward Island, the sustainable wild lobster fishery is valued at over four hundred million dollars.  The fishery has 1280 independent fishers, and employs 8500 people.

A number of the board members will be on the front lines of the carnival, cracking open PEI lobsters, and sharing the stories of their industry and why it plays such an important role in Island culture and economy.

The City of Summerside assumed responsibility for Summerside’s primary festival in 2013. Service organizations had founded and operated the festival since 1956. However, as the service groups’ membership grew older and fewer in numbers they found it impossible to continue the presentation of the carnival.  A request was made of the City to take over the planning and execution of the community event that is near and dear to the hearts of many.

The Summerside Lobster Carnival is now organized by Culture Summerside, the arts, heritage, and culture division of the municipal government with site assistance from the Departments of Municipal and Community Services.
